GasNet Statement: Do Not Underestimate Gas
GasNet operates the gas distribution system across most of the Czech Republic. You need a utility network statement even if you do not touch the gas; it is sufficient that the pipeline runs alongside the property.
What GasNet manages
Low-pressure (NTL), medium-pressure (STL) and high-pressure (VTL) gas mains and connections across most of the country. In Prague, distribution is provided by Pražská plynárenská Distribuce, there you must apply to them.
How to request a utility network statement yourself
- On the website gasnet.cz You will find an electronic application for a utility network statement in the section for builders and designers.
- Enter the plot details, mark the area of interest and select the purpose of the application.
- GasNet will confirm receipt by email, assign a reference number to the request and send the statement electronically. The service is free of charge.
What to watch out for
- Protection zone: For low-pressure and medium-pressure gas mains in built-up areas, the clearance is 1 metre on both sides; elsewhere and for high-pressure mains it is significantly greater, plus additional safety zones for high pressure.
- Work on gas mains: In the protective zone, excavation is carried out manually after marking; damage to the gas pipeline is the most dangerous and most expensive of all utility networks.
- Gas connection: The statement regarding existence does not resolve a new connection. That is a separate process of connecting to the distribution system.
